In spite of the recent market crash, (a whopping 630 points today!) I came home to this wonderful sight! My dear wife had done a super job baking bread. I got to thinking about the promises in God’s Word. One of my favorite verses for such a time as this!….
Psalm 37:25
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Then I asked myself the question “am I righteous enough to qualify for the promise found in this verse?” The only thing that qualifies me, or anyone else for that matter, is the blood of Christ applied to my sin! I have never regretted saying yes to Jesus Christ knocking at my heart’s door as a teenager. He is Lord of All and His return represents another promise that WILL COME TRUE! Maybe soon.

In light of a couple facebook posts and comments from some folks I care about, I have posted the following passage from the Word of the Living God. It speaks for itself. Please, please, pay attention to it….

1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

14Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

17Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Had a call from a distressed friend yesterday. Apparently, the PC she uses at work was infected by the virus that seems to acquire  a new name every year. I have also seen it show up as “Antivirus 2009”.  The symptoms of this virus are explained here:

Antivirus 2010 is a rogue anti-spyware program from the same family as Antivirus 2008 and Antivirus 2009. Like its previous incarnations, Antivirus 2010 is advertised through the use of advertisements on the Web pretending to be online anti-malware scanners. These advertisements pretend to scan your computer and then state that your computer is infected and that you should download and install Antivirus 2010 to remove these infections. These rogues are also known to be advertised and installed through Trojans that display fake security alerts in your Windows taskbar stating you are infected. Once you click on one of these alerts, it will bring you to the download page for Antivirus 2010, or even download and install it without your permission.

Once Antivirus 2010 is installed on your computer, it will be automatically configured to run when you logon to Windows. This is done by adding a startup that launches the C:\Windows\System32\wingamma.exe executable. This executable will then launch the AV2010.exe and the fake Windows Security Center. Once running, it will scan your computer and list a variety of infections that cannot be removed unless you first purchase the software. This infection will also randomly display fake security alerts on your computer stating that you are infected or have some sort of security risk. If you click on these alerts, it will prompt you to purchase the software. These fake alerts, along with a fake Windows Security Center that advertises Antivirus 2010, are used to further scare you into thinking you are infected so you purchase the software.

Another new addition to these types of rogues is the creation of a fake Blue Screen of Death. At random intervals, Antivirus 2010 will create what appears to be a Windows crash, but in reality is just a fake screen. These fake crashes are used to further persuade you into purchasing the software. If you receive this crash, you can simply reboot your computer , or try pressing Alt-Tab or Control-Alt-Delete to get out of it.

The thing I find interesting is that the virus high jacked internet explorer but not Firefox! This was good because at least Firefox still worked to allow her to download my recommended fix to get rid of the virus. My recommendation is found here>  Malwarebytes

This occasion allows me to reinforce a point that I have been trying to make for quite some time. Internet explorer is more susceptible to virus attacks than Firefox! And guess what: AOL uses Internet Explorer as it’s built in browser. Don’t you think its time to go the better, more secure, route and get rid of AOL. Also stop using Internet Explorer and go with Firefox. I will borrow a phrase from Limbaugh here: “Folks, DO NOT DOUBT ME!” Just follow my advice for a better, faster, more secure, computer/internet experience.

Its been so long since an update. Not sure how this whole blogging thing is going to shake out.  Facebook seems to be the current front runner to post news and activites. I still think there is a place for blogging. I would like to include more useful links to various aspects of my life on this blog. Like links to my web albums and various YouTube videos that I have uploaded. Speaking of which, I plan to upload quite a few videos of the students convention related activities. They all did a super job!

The weather sure has gotten warmer since my last post that featured a snow storm. We have mid 80’s for the next few days. Hopefully that will awaken the crabs from their winter’s hibernation. Can hardly wait!

Nearly week has gone by since our historic election and there is still a feeling of shock and apprehension among a lot of evangelical Christians. Dr. James Dobson recently posted his thoughts on He pretty much summed up my feelings on the whole matter.  I copied the content below but you can also click here >

Dr. Dobson: ‘I’m Struggling over the Path the Nation Has Taken’

Founder of Focus on the Family reminds listeners that our hope is in the Lord.

On today’s Focus on the Family radio broadcast, Dr. James Dobson and his guests provided perspective on Tuesday’s election and discussed how it will affect the family and the cause of righteousness.

“Our hope is in the Lord, and we cannot forget that,” Dr. Dobson said. “He doesn’t make mistakes. He hasn’t lost control of things. He understands our fatigue and maybe our disappointment.

“I want to admit that I am in the midst of a grieving process at this time. … I’m not grieving over Barack Obama’s victory, but over the loss of things that I’ve fought for, for 35 years.”

Dr. Dobson went on to congratulate Obama on “his stunning victory.”

“It was indeed a historic accomplishment, to be the first black man in American history to be elected to the highest office in the land.

“But, to be honest, I have to say that his win causes me enormous concern because he will be the most committed pro-abortion president in our history,” Dr. Dobson said. “He’s in favor of much of the homosexual agenda and he’s going to appoint the most liberal justices to the Supreme Court, perhaps that we’ve ever had. So, there are many reasons why I’m struggling today over the likely path that the nation has taken.”

Joining Dr. Dobson on the broadcast were Tom Minnery, senior vice president of Focus on the Family Action; Gary Bauer, president of American Values; Dr. Jim Garlow, a pastor in San Diego; and John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy Council.

Garlow and Stemberger shared the good news on marriage-protection amendments in their states.

“It’s been a four-year ordeal, but we are just absolutely thrilled we’ve been able to achieve this remarkable victory,” Stemberger said. “This is as a result of hundreds and thousands of churches, denominations, pro-family groups and common citizens saying, ‘We want to protect marriage.’ ”

Wow its been a long time since I last posted on here! Possibly a record. I guess blogging is not very high on the priority list.

So much has gone into the last several months. Of course plenty of crabbing which is always lots of fun. It has been a great year in spite of all the hype predicting a slow crabbing season. We have easily limited out with 2 bushels nearly every time we went crabbing.

Electrical work seems to be holding up so far in spite of the slowing real estate market. The long range outlook for work looks very uncertain to me. It may be time to think about doing something else to generate income. I really think it will be a long time before the construction boom days return if they ever do.

This global economic crises has certainly captured a lot of my attention. Seems like history is unfolding right before our eyes! I don’t envy the upcoming newly elected president whoever it turns out to be. He will surely have quite the job on his hands trying to sort through all the challenges that are facing our nation in these trouble times. I know I sure wouldn’t want the job!

I do know of at least one guy who is not impressed with the democrat ticket for the presidency.

This week finds us vacationing in Gatlinburg TN. We arrived on Saturday late afternoon. It has been very relaxing with plenty of good food and fellowship. We plan to be here until next Saturday. Here are a few highlights so far…

The cabin…

Bringing in the luggage..

A Rook game broke out…

Getting ready for brunch..

We had our own little church service on Sunday morning…

A little visit to a park with a scenic view…

Breakfast on one morning was sausage gravy on biscuits…

Dishes being done…

The hot tub seems to get plenty of use…

One disappointment was the lack of high speed internet at this cabin. Thankfully, Ben had his wireless air card along which made this post possible.

Check out this video of water buffalo taking on a pride of lions! Even
a crocodile got involved. We can draw a couple different spiritual
applications from this video.  Guys you will enjoy this wildlife in action.
I would say this is one of the most incredible real life animal videos I
have ever seen. It makes you wonder how many times it turns out like
this. I would guess its pretty rare.

How does one go about coping with illness when its pretty close to home and the person affected is so young? For those of you that have not heard, my brother Marty and his wife Lori have been facing one of the hardest trials in life. Having to deal with one of their 5 children having a brain tumor is way up there in the category of “tragedies”. Although the surgery went very well, we now have the agonizing wait to get the oncologist’s report on what type of tumor it is that they took from her head. My heart just aches for them during this time of uncertainty. I have thought long and hard about how fragile life on this earth can be. I am so thankful for friends who continue to care and pray. What would we ever do without such support at times like this? This post goes out as a request that you would continue to lift them to the Lord as they await the report. Our hope is for a miracle that the report ends up better than expected. More importantly that God would provide much needed continued grace for the days ahead. I have already sensed that “amazing grace” in the life of Melanie and the family.

We have set up a blog for them to post updates on Melanie. There are a few pics on there as well.
