The Roblog

Welcome to the new and improved Roblog!

October?

Is it really October? We hit near 80 degrees again today. Seems like autumn is going to pass over us this year. I guess August decided to take over Sept. and Oct. Oh well, I just hope we get some rain soon. We sure don’t want to end up like California engulfed in wild fires.

Work has been steady for us in spite of the slow down in home construction. Not sure how long it will last. I have often wondered what would happen if construction would stay slow for a year or more. So many guys I know depend on it for their living. I also think of the Amish and ex-Amish with not more than 8th grade educations. What could they ever do to earn a living if it required something other than some sort of craftsmanship or farming? Just some thoughts I have had recently. I am so glad that the Lord is still in control of such situations. It gives me assurance to trust my business to Him. I have often been amazed and humbled that He has blessed me in that way. We are still able to keep the bills paid and food on the table. I give all the thanks and praise to the Lord. Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away. I guess I got started early!

Keep praying for Melanie and her family. Its been a long difficult road for them. I can’t go through a day without feeling a touch of the despair that they probably struggle with. In spite of it all, I am so grateful for how they have stood strong in this storm that seems to rage on and has few bright spots.

Business and Bible Quizzing.

Have any of you been aware of the recent slow down in construction? I have been self-employed since about 1990 and have seen a few slack periods but nothing to compare to the way this winter has been. I know many guys that would probably say they have had the slowest winter ever. Someone said we are in the midst of a “correction” as far as real estate goes. It makes me realize how blessed I am to have had a fairly busy winter with electrical work. I am not sure why because I don’t feel I deserve it any better than anyone else. I just want to go on record here to give all the praise and thanks to God. He really is the One that controls such things and I don’t want to take it for granted. He may choose to take me through some slow times. Spring is nearly here and hopefully it will turn things around!
Today was the end of the big Bible quizzing event at Black Rock Retreat. Our students did admirably considering the competition they were up against. Brendon and Andrew both won “All Star” quizzer awards! They did great even though their teams didn’t win any trophies. It is such a blessing to see the eternal Word of God memorized and imprinted in the lives of so many young folks!

Way to go Brendon!

Way to go Andrew!
