Sympathizing With Dobson.

Nearly week has gone by since our historic election and there is still a feeling of shock and apprehension among a lot of evangelical Christians. Dr. James Dobson recently posted his thoughts on Citizenslink.org. He pretty much summed up my feelings on the whole matter.  I copied the content below but you can also click here > http://www.citizenlink.org/content/A000008622.cfm

Dr. Dobson: ‘I’m Struggling over the Path the Nation Has Taken’

Founder of Focus on the Family reminds listeners that our hope is in the Lord.

On today’s Focus on the Family radio broadcast, Dr. James Dobson and his guests provided perspective on Tuesday’s election and discussed how it will affect the family and the cause of righteousness.

“Our hope is in the Lord, and we cannot forget that,” Dr. Dobson said. “He doesn’t make mistakes. He hasn’t lost control of things. He understands our fatigue and maybe our disappointment.

“I want to admit that I am in the midst of a grieving process at this time. … I’m not grieving over Barack Obama’s victory, but over the loss of things that I’ve fought for, for 35 years.”

Dr. Dobson went on to congratulate Obama on “his stunning victory.”

“It was indeed a historic accomplishment, to be the first black man in American history to be elected to the highest office in the land.

“But, to be honest, I have to say that his win causes me enormous concern because he will be the most committed pro-abortion president in our history,” Dr. Dobson said. “He’s in favor of much of the homosexual agenda and he’s going to appoint the most liberal justices to the Supreme Court, perhaps that we’ve ever had. So, there are many reasons why I’m struggling today over the likely path that the nation has taken.”

Joining Dr. Dobson on the broadcast were Tom Minnery, senior vice president of Focus on the Family Action; Gary Bauer, president of American Values; Dr. Jim Garlow, a pastor in San Diego; and John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy Council.

Garlow and Stemberger shared the good news on marriage-protection amendments in their states.

“It’s been a four-year ordeal, but we are just absolutely thrilled we’ve been able to achieve this remarkable victory,” Stemberger said. “This is as a result of hundreds and thousands of churches, denominations, pro-family groups and common citizens saying, ‘We want to protect marriage.’ ”
