The Roblog

Welcome to the new and improved Roblog!

Remembering Melanie.

As most of you probably know by now, our niece Melanie went to be with her Saviour on Sunday morning. Thanks so much to all of you for your kind words of consolation and concern for the family. All of you have contributed so much in helping to bear their burden and loss. As they move through the grieving process, your prayers will continue to be very much needed.
Now begins the time of remembering Melanie. Going through many pictures through the past few years, I found a few and posted them on their blog. A slide show DVD is being prepared and will likely be displayed during the viewing and/or funeral.

When their blog comes up, please scroll to a recent post for funeral arrangements.

Valentines Day

This is Rob’s wife here. God has blessed me in many ways and one of those ways is in the husband he has given me.  Love is not always a feeling but a commitment to be faithful to the vows that we promised to each other.  Rob has always been gentle, that was one of the things that blessed me as I learned to know him.  I need his calm approach to life, in fact, one of his favorite phrases is “It’ll be alright”.

Yes, we have had our disagreements and I am ashamed of the ways I have treated him at times and yet he continues to love me. Even today he blessed me with a card that spoke volumes to me. How do we as wives really admire and respect our husbands? How do we love even when our feelings go out the window? May God help us love the way He has loved us.

Rob, I love you!

Katrina & Deaniel

The following are a few snap shots taken from the wedding of Katrina and Deaniel. We were not there for the main picture session but got a few. I hope this helps for those of you not able to be at the wedding ie, LaDonna (Oregon) Jon and Dawn (Alabama) to name just a few. More pictures will be added to this post soon. So check back often!

A Wedding. (and a few random thoughts)

This weekend will feature a rather major wedding with 500 – 600 people expected! We sure are looking forward to seeing some family and relatives. I hope to be able to post some pics by Saturday night.
Way too much time seems to elapse before I update on here. Not sure why. I guess I just don’t make it enough of a priority. Blogging has become quite the thing hasn’t it? Its amazing how many people use it to express themselves. I actually think its a good thing for the most part. If you want to find out what is going on with someone just check out their blog. I especially think of our young people. Its really unfortunate to ignore what they are saying on their blogs or to totally prevent them from using that avenue to share their thoughts etc.
I would have to say that this fall/winter, and actually all of 2007, has been one of the most dismal for our church family that I can remember. Let me try to list some of the reasons:
1. Four elderly folks have passed away.
a. In one couple’s situation it took both parents on her side and a mother on his side!
b. The death recently of another dear elderly church brother.
3. Cancer affecting our lead pastor’s wife. (currently in remission and doing well. PTL)
4. Cancer affecting our 13 year old niece Melanie.
5. The construction industry has slowed dramatically, causing much concern to those of us in that industry.
6. Recent sickness that includes fever, vomiting, and severe coughing, has affected so many including me!
(starting to recover. PTL!)
Through it all, the Lord is providing the grace necessary to get through it. Now is certainly not the time to lose hope or be disheartened. What would we do without the promises in Scripture? I have to continue to remind myself that “this life is not about this life.” I like these verses that refer to Abraham:
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.     Heb. 11:9,10

Oh for a faith that will not shrink!
